I've tried looking this up in my textbook, but to no avail.
Can anybody tell me the advantages and disadvantages of off-peak electricity for both the producer and the user?
Thanks a lot everyone, and karma for helpful responses.

Off peak means that you use it during non-peak-hours, right?
I think that it costs less to use during that time ... sorry, that's all I can think of at the moment.

Yes.
Which is a point... if it's only cheaper at the offpeak times... danke Stephi!

It's definetely cheaper at off peak times. Another advantage could be (and this is made up, so don't get at me if it's wrong.) that it's easier on the electricity companyt because they cann cope wth demand at off peak times, and so they don't havre to resort to emergency generators or whatrever they use.
Disadvantages would probably be that people don't tend top want electrixcity at off peak tiems (hence the reasonb its off peak) and that (again another comp[letely made up one, that sounds a bit logical) could ot mean that the elctricity company isn't abkle to save up elecytriciy fior when it is most needed if people use it off peak.
I hope that was helpful, but sorry if it was jut a load of rubbish.

Plus the company doesn't make as much money if it's cheaper .

The electricity would be being produced anyway, so it is better to sell it at a lower price than let it go to waste.

S'ok.
I think this can be locked and moved now, cos I've had the exam and perhaps predictably, this didn't come up.
Edit: there we go.
