We had heat-proof ceiling tiles at my old school for the very purpose of hydrogen balloons and methane bubbles...

No, the pyromaniac in question still won't buy me a new one. I actually quite like the hole now. Burnt kinda nicely. Occasionally pens fall out though.

No-one did that at my old school. One guy in my year stuck metal tings in the flame and burnt someone with them. He got expelled. Good riddance, I say.

I would generally use charcoleised splints to draw on our heatproof mats.
